Is that something new

How did this come to be

There are days when my heart is on fire

There are days when I have little desire

When I see you I can’t help what I do

There are times when you are far away

There are times when I wish you would stay

I thought

By the light of the moon

I sought

Meaning that moved too soon

I thought I was in love

What did I know

Feelings meant to shared

Too much I’m aware

Love Means To Me

You’re the reason my heart is blue

No effort to get over you

I’m about as sad as sad can be

Looking for what love means to me

Can’t seem to smile since you’ve been gone

Don’t want to talk to anyone

Not looking forward to what may be

Looking for a love I can see

Love used to be ours

It was written in the stars

Songs were sung the strength of love

In our world it was enough

Sometime soon I will go outside

Find someone in whom I can confide

Rearranged

Not a day goes by that I’m not filled with pain

Your love was here but it’s gone again

I keep hoping that it washes away with the rain

I love you now as I loved you then

Nothing has really changed

You are still who you are

My life has been rearranged

I keep looking out the window waiting for you

Love is what we have, it is true

The days have gone on and I don’t know what to do

I know that someday this will reach an end

I will learn somehow I have to bend

That way my heart will truly make amends

Getting Sleep

The days begin early enough

Getting sleep has been tough

No smile on this tired face

Full of thoughts to be replaced

No morning coffee simple breakfast fare

Just enough to be aware

To get you through the day

At least until lunch has its say

You run through the simple routine

Backwards and forwards poking at the seems

Looking for something to make your day

Send dull thoughts on their way

A First Date?

On a day that seemed like hours

With emotions running quite high

Running into all the powers

As you are trying to get by

A smiling face in a crowd

Sends these thoughts far away

An invitation issued imagined or not

Has been put into play

She smiles and waves you take and save

As you walk over to where she stands

She says she is glad to be here

As she reaches for your hand

You find a little table

You sit and share a drink

She talks in such hushed tones

You don’t know what to think

Conversation is interesting

Thoughtful and secure

Comfort is the reason

You feel so reassured

She hands you a slip of paper

You gaze at what is written there

When you look up she is gone

Vanished while you were unaware

What was shared what was said

Was reason to contemplate

The piece of paper in my hand

Suggesting a first date

Watching early winter snow

Warming by the open flames

Sharing is understood
