Songs fill my heart

Looking for a place to start

Dreams live forever

I wish that you were here

So far yet so near

On a road to nowhere

On a road because you care

A hand reaches out to give aid

Another reaches to be paid

You give yourself in love

You give yourself in time

You give yourself in reaching out

No time to demonstrate love

No time to provide understanding

No time to show they cared

No time to be a family

No time to deliver some warmth

No time for anything

Where to begin

When your thoughts have words

It’s a sign

The wind whispers

Slowly in the night

Riding high wires

Coming in so tight

Speaking few words

Not waiting for a reply

Such is the way of life

We always wonder why

Waves break on the shore

Seagulls cry in the wind

When life lets you down

You get back up again

When people sing their songs

You have to join in

Friends come and the go

They have lives to live

First comes cold

Followed by snow

Learning acceptance

Chortle

I heard the words running through my mind

Utterances from long ago

They didn’t mean much at the time

But now they fill the void

I saw my life in the reels of film

Different characters playing my role

Each brought a certain nuance

They lived in words I didn’t know

There are times like this

I wish I could hear

Your chortle again

Some wise bon mot

Some words that pin

Meaning to the moment

But that’s not

What life is meant to be

You’re not here

I’m just glad with what you meant to me

Late into the night

Around campfires we sing

Sharing with delight

When the morning comes

Love and peace my brother

Happiness will come to stay

Jaded vision loss of innocence

Fuming pyre of common sense

All the minds lost in the haze

Preferring a symbolic gaze

It still goes on and on

Dissembling right from wrong

No focus on the scenery

Only seeing what it means to me

Taking without giving anymore

Who knows what’s in store

No contemplating right from wrong

Clinging to their version of the past

Where gains were never meant to last

A tidal wave of memories

That mean nothing much to me

No semblance of reason

No meeting of the minds

Greed is their only pleasure
