Time To Renew

I saw you standing there in the moonlight

Strong and warm and full of insights

I knew in my heart that I should try

You were something I could not deny

That was then and this is now

You were more than I should allow

Bruised and battered my heart carries on

Stronger with its own lifesong

I was shattered

I was torn

I was broken

And reborn

Created new

From the wreckage

That was two

Moving past love

Time to renew

We opened our hearts and showed we care

Lost the thought to be aware

The loss was bitter in the end

There was no way to pretend

There is me

There is love

There are wonders

It's meant to be

Come on now

Feel the passion

Feel the stars

Feel the rationale

For everything to start

Feel the highs

Feel the lows

Feel with your heart

As it makes a statement

Get past the start

Get past the first year

Get past where

The thoughts went

Get to where

Everyday is real

Get to where you feel

Where your love is meant

More than desire

Move than movement

More than despair

Of being alone

More than eyesight

More than heartbreak

More than your heart meant

Sometimes we laugh

Sometimes we smile

Sometimes we mend

Our hearts in our own style

Sometimes we love

Sometimes break

Sometimes we start

The steps we must take

There are times to sing

There are times to cry

There are days when

All we can do is get by

Sometimes we love

Sometimes we cry

Sometimes we shake

Our heads and wonder why

In the end we know

Our love will grow

We’re not alone

Stormy

Filled with cautious charm

Filtering through their words

Windswept horizons

Regretting what occurred

Stormy lovers

Pulling at the chain

Desiring their own way

Running for cover

Time and again

Limited words to say

With all that does remain

Wave swept beaches

Washing away the wounds

Heart broken moments

Seeking ways to exclude

Once they laughed

Until they cried

Loving moments

Held in a daze

They’re older now

Supposed to know how

To show that they are brave

Words Flow

Words flow back and forth

A chess game in review

You can’t checkmate on your first move

Give and take is broken

When you settle into a groove

And ignore

What is said

For

What you want

What you need

What you desire

What you hope

Time does not fix broken hearts

Love does not lead you astray

You can’t simply take and not give

You can’t wash your feelings away

I am talking to myself

You listen but don’t really hear

Only mutter on and on

Of that there can be no disguise

At times like this I marvel at your world

Capturing scenes,

Capturing souls
