Lucky

Lucky

Green grass layered with water

Elm trees are no more

You were covered in barley

Barns have huge doors

On a moonlit night

Your laughter covered new ground

You were quite lucky

That I was around

Jezebel

Jezebel

Say goodbye to green grass

Say goodbye to the toad

Though warm and inviting

She could never shoulder the load

Invite me

To your well planned parties

Invite me

To a well spent night

Give me

Time to put you at ease

Give me

A night of sweet delight

Once your thoughts have shifted

We’ll talk as never before

Once the burdened has lifted

We shall see what’s in store

Invite me

To your well planned parties

Invite me

To a well spent night

Give you

Time to see you at ease

Give you

Time to see the light

Open The Door, Come On In

Open The Door, Come On In

In colors bold

Your eyes are bright

Your laughter fills

Hot August nights

Your voice is swaying

Playing with my mind

All your thoughts

Soft and gentle

Touching me

So elemental

I’ve begun a buy in

A tie in with your heart

Open the door

Come on in

This is where

We begin

Through the night

You laugh and smile

My mind moves

To compile

All the dreams

You have been in

All your thoughts

Soft and gentle

Touching me

So elemental

I’ve begun a buy in

A tie in with your heart

Open the door

Come on in

This is where

We begin

Bartender On The Beach

Bartender On The Beach

Bartender on the beach

Or so it seems

An endless supply of problems

Are presented

Over and over

With many sides

Interjecting

Platitudes

Of support

Riffing off the thoughts

First expressed

Always agreeing

What a true friend

You are

Always testing the waters

To stay on the right side

Oh it is so blessed to have

A bartender on the beach

A Day At The Beach

A Day At The Beach

Parking is a nightmare

Hordes of people flow

Idly

Looking down

Or absent in discussion

Not wanting attention

Hats askew

Towels over their shoulders

Searching

For the just right spot

Stuck between a water buffalo

And newspaper clipper

The water laps the shore

The wind gently rattling

The gulls soar and plop

On umbrellas and shelters

The air smells of suntan lotion

Loaded with spf’s

A clash of genres

Cover the airwaves

Frisbees find open spaces

Bouncing off the suntanning bodies

Children building sandcastles

Brave beauties

Dip their toes

Before languidly

Strolling down the beach

Feigning deep discussion

Until the sun begins to set

The waters calm

The gulls swim

The hordes thin

There is a trickle

Of brave hearts

Searching for a midnight swim

Such Are

Such Are

The view of the water

The clouds rushing by

The wind pushing and shoving

The challenge of the try

The thoughts contemplated

The ideas that are formed

Burbling with possibilities

Discussions that were stormed

Such are the days

Of miracle and wonder

Such are the days

Vivid in their hue

Such are the days

Of fascination

Such are the times

I spend with you

All the challenges

Exciting and new

The intrigue that is developing

Ambiance it imbues

The strength of the wind

The love that awaits

The beauty that surrounds me

Is enmeshed in good taste

I like gliding on water

The swish of the paddle

The gentle wind calling

I like burbling water

Gone Are The Days

Gone Are The Days

Curled up on the couch

Your coffee cup in my hand

An old scented shirt

Summer rain on demand

Whispered melodies

Carried away on the breeze

I linger longer

Hoping to hear you please

Gone are the days

When you paddled to my door

A new understanding

Has rocked me to my core

Gone are the days

When you paddled to my door

A new understanding

Is here for evermore

Dusky days coddle

My deeply darkened mind

I must not prattle

About being left behind

My thoughts are worried

I long to reach you now

Past the veil of silence

Under a weeping bough

Gone are the days

When you paddled to my door

A new understanding

Has rocked me to my core

Gone are the days

When you paddled to my door

A new understanding

Is here for evermore

The Sun Also Rises

The Sun Also Rises

Slow mornings

Not much to say

Shower then coffee

I’ll be on my way

Be at work

A long time before nine

People ask

Tell em I’m feeling fine

Slow evenings

Wander through town

Looking in windows

Really feeling down

Wondering what there is

Left for us to say

Tomorrow

Will be a better day

The Sun Also Rises

On the other side of our hearts

Peaking in windows

Early before we depart

Whisper on the wind

Listen as it says

The Sun Also Rises

On a brand new day

Late at night

Arms wrapped ‘round you

Quiet discussions

Movement from the blue

Quietly seeing

Moment of clear truth

Moments like this

Always tend to soothe
