No Need To Explain

She rose adroitly from the waves

Water dripping from everywhere

A mermaid come to life

Strode up the beach totally self aware

She stared deep into my eyes

Told my fortune without a word

Slipped her hand into mine

Giving me a note that had to be heard

She wrapped herself in her shawl

Easily strolled far down the beach

Not a care in the world

Reflections until she was out of reach

I looked on in great amaze

My eyes shifted to shaking hands

No doubt she asked me out

Left a phone number to help me understand

I am but a simple man

A bit naive in my manner

When I looked at my hand

I already knew what would occur

So here does not end this tale

All questions raised are answers gained

My heart beats rapidly

Such a lovely girl no need to explain

Dedication is at its core

Feel the sun

Suburban skies

Where people live

There are no fields of green

Cement dreams

And black tarred yards

Living outside their means

Tree lined roads

Under blue skies

Farmers fields uplifting

Deer eat greens

Rabbits scamper by

Fresh air is there gifting

In our need

To be modern

We transpose city skies

Removing us

In form and deed

From where our heart does lie

Fields of gold

Fields of dreams

Laid back and secure

Open hearts

Open minds

An act so singularly important

Empowering the masses

With the concept of having some power

In negotiations

Being seen

As equals

Reasonable, Responsible, Sensible

The end came quickly

Or so I decided

When there is no will

When there is no insight

Or desire

Too solve an issue

Or even to take steps

To understand the problem

When there is no inclination

To take sensible

Responsible steps

To do what is best for

Those involved

One must conclude

That simply

‘Seeing how this plays out’

Is not a reasonable response

To anything

Ones involvement must end

There are more important

Things in life

To grapple with

So I walked away

Satisfied with my efforts

And disappointed that more

Could not be achieved
