Advantages of Solitude

Often

We are informed

That we must look for answers

Out there in the world

Religious answers

Intellectual answers

Answers about love

About the things that interest us

About our soul

Often

The answers lie within

Lie within the questions we ask ourselves

Lie within the beliefs we hold

Lie within the examination of who we are

What we are

How we got here

What we accept.

It is in our solitude

That thoughts percolate

And rise to the surface

As we examine

Our world

In ways others do not see

In places where our creativity

Challenges our abilities

And allows us to draw conclusions

That are ours

This is what makes us.

We stand tall

When we are alone

We feel none of the encumbrances

Daily life inflicts

We are us only at those times

We are more

When we are alone

It is the real us

I can live with that
