A Heart Gone Astray

A Heart Gone Astray

Cobwebs flung

With gentle despair

Words forming on her lips

Dinner is sung

With tender flair

On each of her trips

Her pace was set

Many years ago

The tide never turned

No need to fret

It passes you know

Lessons may be learned

There was the scent

Of the woods

It’s easy to discern

Her love was meant

 As if it could

Return with more concern

A heart is heard

A heart is felt

A heart falls away

Her heart is her word

To thaw or melt

A heart gone astray

The Act Of Protest

The Act Of Protest

The act of protest

Has lost its meaning

It has lost its cue

By those who lack power

Who never had their due

It’s been co opted by big business

Politicians too

No longer a means of dissent

No longer antiwar

It is hard to hear its statements

From the senate floor

And when people use their pulpit

To encourage protest

As a tool of war

One has to wonder

What it is

This world is longing for

Circling

Circling

Circling

Returning once again

To the same spot in my life

It seems I have always been

Circling

Despite efforts to move on

Continuing with past thoughts

Visiting places I have seen

Circling

I am alway circling

Never moving on

How my heart embraces

How my heart does seem to long

For something new and different

For something which shows my growth

For now I am circling

Who knows what I have found?

Circling

Yearning for something new

Stuck in an endless loop

Until I acknowledge what I have seen

Where Does It Go?

Where Does It Go?

Through the ages

Through the tears

Through the park

Through the fears

Through the mind

 In arrears

Through all time

Through the seers

Through the tv

And the radio

Through the newspapers

That had to go

Through the council

Through the fields

Through the dreams

What they conceal

Through the moments

Of the heart

Through the feelings

They impart

Through the ideas

Once self made

Through the years

Through the pain

Where does it go?

Where does it go?

Could It Be?

Could It Be?

Could it be you are near

Could it be you are here

Walking down a fine line

Crossing over into mine

Could it be the words were right

Could It be a true delight

Smiling eyes, laughing free

Sidling right now up to me

Giving love in the night

Giving love in full delight

Say you’ll stay here with me

Say you’ll stay it’s meant to be

So Much Time

So Much Time

I see my life

Stretched out before me

Pulling threads

Of what was meant to be

In the end

It didn’t matter

Life has a way

How it’s supposed to be

I close my eyes

I see distant dreams

Sun rises

And magical sunsets

Life flowing

Capturing the glow

Making it more

Than it really did seem

There is a beginning

And there is an end

In between

We just are who we are

Seems so simple

But thinking minds

Expect more

Than a pattern how to live

Some much time

So much to learn

So much to live for

So much time

We have spurned

Hope

Hope

She opened her heart

On a sunny afternoon

Deciding to make

The most of the day

Letting thoughts in

She never considered

Building her trust

In hopes they would stay

So much in life

For us to learn

So much to explore

Along the way

So many things

That make up

Living everyday

The wind whistled

Through her hair

The sun shone

On her knees

So much hope

In one heart

Growing by

Degrees

Who I Love

Who I Love

I have felt the heart

You have kept under lock and key

You are easing

I have seen the smile

That lights up many rooms

You are easing

It is not easy

It is not hard

It’s just who you are

Who I love

Music and candles

Picnics on a Sunday afternoon

Are you free?

Just a word to be said

That lifts up your spirits

Are you free?

It is not easy

It is not hard

It’s just who you are

Who I love

Well Matched

Well Matched

Quiet words were uttered

On full display

Seeking promises

That would still go astray

How they tried

Circling around again

Meaning proposed

Sniffling sounds

Once more arose

Still they tried

And in the end

Both acknowledged

Trying was their right

But piecing together

Moonbeams in the light

Is hard work

They believed there was a way

To patch up their little tiff

Give some take some

And grow up a little bit

He reached for her hand

And held it high in the night

Summoning silent thoughts

Filling her with delight

Well matched they were

Love Is A Strange Bedfellow

Love Is A Strange Bedfellow

In her eyes she smiled

Parting branches as she walked

Full of dizzy dances

Sweetly twirling as she talked

In her eyes the glory of the sun

Birds gathered overhead

Singing heartfelt praises

Bold and soft she did tread

She loved in silent circles

Sheltered from the rain

Keeping all her promises

Protecting her good name

She drew diagrams

Reflecting her inner state

Steepling all her learning

To later contemplate

Everyone who crossed

The fallow path she tread

Drew great love from her

Reflected in what she said

No strong words

Were uttered in her name

And when she disappeared

It never was the same

Cherished moments

Completing all our hearts

Love is strange bedfellows

No matter when it departs
