The expectation was clear

How to honour that 

But still be true to me

A thinking mind

Without all the trouble

Having one possessed

Of the dutiful son

In a crossfire

Of destabilizing statements

An interest in learning

Thoughts and growth

But trying to maintain

A harmonious environment
