I Want You

Two lonely hearts

A place set in time

Finding out about love

A meeting of the minds

Circling around

Knocking at the door

Until we discover

We want more

There is wisdom

There is courage

There is love

It is true

But I want you

To want me

The way that

I want you

With a love so strong

What could go wrong?

Every minute

Seems like a week

I get so tongue tied

When I try to speak

Working at the boundaries

Of loving you

Wanting your love

Wanting more it’s true

You’re a dabbler

She said to me

A simple dabbler

Won’t collect a fee

Not serious enough

To write full time

Not serious enough

By design

More than a dabbler

I replied

I write everyday

Far too many lines

I’ve written a lifetime

It’s what I do

To be professional like you

A certain calmness

Settles in over me

Feeling warm thoughts

Is good enough to see

Searching through the stars at night

I feel strength warming my soul

Building in its innocence

But sitting here next to you

Orchestral in faith

Sequins or lace

Inferno

Walls of inferno

Chase

Peaceful ideals

Through steel

And glass

Canyons

Heat intensifying

Creating more chaos

Fearful for their lives

Not understanding

How they got here

Nor where

They will end up

Disrespect

Penning their thoughts

Shaping their direction

Choices limited

Eternal damnation

Threatens their very soul

Mindless repetition

Defines their survival

Until they cave

To the whims

Pursuing

Their independence
