What I Know

Early morning sunrise

Katydids and catching flies

Watching I surmise

That your heart is full of life

Here is what I know

Here is love

Here is soul

Take your time

Let it grow

Let it reach

As you know

Talking in the afternoon

Watching a daylight moon

A moment caught much too soon

Warmed the depths of my heart

Early dinner in the yard

An evening spent playing cards

Laughter that wasn’t too hard

A smile that said more than you could say

And so it was on dewy grass on a starry night

We talked of all the things we knew

This feeling kept getting stronger

We both said it was because of you

On the road to nowhere

On the road to evermore

A window does open

Then you close the door

Try to see straight ahead

Try to open your mind

On the road to nowhere

You got to be feeling kind

You are not in good health

You are not in your home

The road is so dusty

As you chase the unknown

Searching for something

Your mind does need

I hope you do find it

I hope you succeed

On the road to nowhere

You and I show we care

We have dreams that we share

Ramble and Roam

I used to ramble

I used to roam

I once did travel

Far from my home

So many sights

Inviting me

Now it’s all

On tv

I walked all the way

From New York to L A

Crossed the mountains

On full display

Crossed the prairies

And the rivers too

I crossed this land

For something to do

I worked real hard

To earn my pay

To stay on the road

Everyday

I saw icefields

Shipwrecks too

I crossed this land

Because it I could do

And now I sit

In my new home

I no longer ramble

I no longer roam

My way of travel

Is calling me

But I’m too old

For that to be
