In The End

In The End

The central theme was growing cold

White lightning searching for a new home

Trees shiver and they moan

Their time on land is on loan

Better people should have known

In silence they still groan

The seeds have been sown

Those with eyes have to be shown

That life is good and time has flown

There is nothing that they own

Unless they are quite bold

Moss isn’t only on trees

You can’t do what you please

Life is but a good tease

We live beyond our means

Reaching for more it always seems

But

In the end

There is only

Our life to live

Long In The Tooth

Long In The Tooth

Wild rivers running through

Darkened skies on cool nights

Sounds made so heavenly

Living lives as old men

Using what is in their zen

Some say it is foolish

Some say it is long in the tooth

They are men who have lived this long

They live their lives without seeking proof

Water flows through beaver dams

Winds make their foolish demands

On their way to who knows where

Old men playing card games

Experts plying their fame

Two Shorter Poems

Make It Good

There are hearts strong and true

There are hearts feeling so blue

I’ve had these and many more

I want to know what’s next in store

Surprise me

Advise me

Revive me

Make it good

There are minds young and old

Filled with love the nicest souls

Discussions rich and full of fire

Discussions that can take me higher

Why Try?

Ice cream

And banana cream pies

Leave us filled with sighs

We can’t be denied

Why Try?

Lead Us

Lead Us

Take a walk through the woods

Hear the leaves crunch underneath

Quiet stroll on an autumn day

Quiet and peaceful I could keep

Woodpeckers finding bugs

Owls hooting on the wind

Buzzards flying overhead

Branches snapping back in place

Well worn path to follow

Late fall sun to warm the sky

Rocks and roots to trip over

Emotions running high

Leadership is weak

Caring even less

Can no one lead us

Out of this mess?

Becoming One

Becoming One

It was a night

Much like this

When you could feel

My heart beating

Building in joy

As we spent time

In each others arms

Getting to know

How the other

Half does live

Hearing first hand

Stories, emotions

Becoming one

In our hearts

Quiet music

A background sound

Soft romantic

Capturing souls

Urging, needing

Moments like this

To become one

I was meant for you

You were meant for me

Signs Of You

Signs Of You

When I feel warm

When I feel at one with my life

I always come back

To my memories of you

Hearing your words

Feeling the love in what you do

Such caring words

Still in love with you

In the darkness of the night

In the brilliance of the day

Everywhere in my world

There are signs of you

There are words and thoughts

That lighten up my day

Rising above

My feelings of being blue

I’ve kept your thoughts

In the far corners of my heart

A quiet place

Where I can reach you

I can’t hold your hand

I can’t see you smile anymore

You are still here

In all that I do

Perchance To Dream

Perchance To Dream

She sings in the forest

Boldly amongst the trees

Its sound makes her so pleased

The animals rest

Behaviour is the best

As she reads their tea leaves

Perchance to dream

She climbs to the top

Of a rocky outcrop

Echos reflect her laughter

Billy goats graze hills

The streams they do trill

Burbling with pleasure

Perchance to dream

If you go slow

The world will never know

Detecting isn’t a strong point

Look in the window

The embers do glow

Touch them they will then anoint

Perchance to dream

Is to know

Your Heart Does Speak

Your Heart Does Speak

First there was a sound

Then came a word

I learned that your heart does speak

Then I felt your touch

Then came the meaning

I learned that your heart does speak

Even now in the distance

Your heart is calling to me

There is no resistance

There is only consistence

Calling me to you

I looked into your eyes

They were full of life

I learned that your heart does speak

You wore some perfume

My senses detected

I learned that your heart does speak

Even now in the distance

Your heart is calling to me

There is no resistance

There is only consistence

Calling me to you

I heard a clear sound

Your love was speaking

I learned that your heart does speak

Mystique

Mystique

I saw a window someone had gone through

I saw a straight line leading me to you

Your mailbox is full, addressed in your hand

You live a life that is in demand

I notice that your yard is cluttered and full

I am lured forward by its distant pull

Yellow birds sing a song that is unknown

The grass was green but now it is fully grown

An alphabet sits upon your door

Mystique makes me wonder what is in store

The tables turn changing my world gray

It is like this happens every day

Nothing Else Matters

Nothing Else Matters

It is a life to lead

It is a place to play

It is where I live

It is where I stay

Nothing else matters

It is what I have thought

It is a place in time

It’s what I have been taught

It is well refined

Nothing else matters

Nothing else matters

It is where I live

Nothing else matters

I chase a path to love

It’s tangled and twisted

I learn it is not enough

It is what life is

Words are used in debate

Images to be mined

Looking for ways to relate

Drawing a straight line
