Just A Lark

Just A Lark

Something simple

Something obtuse

Something dreadful

Just to confuse

Something deep

Something dark

All of it

For

Just a lark

When the wind

Blows the clouds away

You wish the sun

Would always stay

Nice and warm

And so close

In your heart

You never know

Something so far

Something so close

Comparison

Who ever knows

Ask your heart

Ask your brain

All of it

For

Just a lark

Walking Blind

Walking Blind

Define a moment

Define a time

Walk away

Walk the line

Open thoughts

Confound the mind

I am always

Walking blind

There are words

And there is me

Strolling along

With misery

Open thoughts

Confound the mind

I am always

Walking blind

Feeling lonely

Feeling blue

Looking for

Something to do

Open thoughts

Confound the mind

I am always

Walking blind

In What I Need

In What I Need

An act of god

An act of faith

I truly

Cannot embrace

An act of love

I’m no fool

Spent too much time

Loving you

An open mind

An open heart

I truly

Cannot jump start

There’s too much pain

Left inside

I cannot run

I cannot hide

When hearts break down

Like pouring pain

Love will never

Be the same

In my heart

I’ve learned to be

One who trusts

In what I need

Recapturing Time

Recapturing Time

A calliope plays

Loudly in the background

Grinding noises come to light

The shrill sounds of laughter

As the horses rise and fall

Marching to their own beat

Traveling in circles

Forty chances to be part of the crowd

Enjoying what is now historical

But once was a part of carnival life

Parents stand and stare

Familiar with the carousel

Memories resurface

And are embedded

Blended with children’s thoughts

To create an atmosphere of wonder

Of awe

Of the joy

Their youth held

Easing tensions

Celebrating

With quiet thoughts

The life they know

Make Amends

Make Amends

Your words of love once soothed my heart

Now they just go and tear me apart

I saw your love begin and I see it end

I wish there was a way we could make amends

Once I was graced by you at my door

You can't come around begging for more

I saw your love begin and I see it end

I wish there was a way we could make amends

I once did enjoy my life with you

Now you are gone and have been removed

I saw your love begin and I see it end

I wish there was a way we could make amends

Once your sweetness washed all over me

Now it is more than I want it to be

I saw your love begin and I see it end

I wish there was a way we could make amends

Looking at all the possibilities

You aren’t one who sets my mind at ease

I saw your love begin and I see it end

I wish there was a way we could make amends

Moving On

Moving On

Love

Is what I want

I said love

Is what I want

I’ve got to get me some love

That I can flaunt

Time

Is on my side

I said time

Is on my side

I’ve got to bide my time

So I can survive

Dreams

Mean much to me

I said dreams

Mean much to me

Need to get me some sleep

So I can see

Living

Is what I do

I said living

Is what I do

Need to move it forward

Past feeling blue

Love

Is what I need

I said love

Is what I need

Get past the temptation

So I can succeed

Time

Is moving on

I said time

Is moving on

Got to find a way to

Be where I belong

Gone Are The Days

Gone Are The Days

Wheelchairs and oxygen tanks

And sitting in the hall

Passing the time of day

Awaiting a doctors call

Reading all the headlines

On my telephone

Wonder where the days went

Now that I am alone

Gone are the days of deep emotion

Gone are the days wild and free

Gone are the days of strong devotion

Gone are the days meant to be

Funeral homes and cemeteries

Relatives all passed on by

Dreaming of adventures

I would now never try

All my excitement

Is found on the tv

Falling asleep while watching

Good ole jeopardy

Gone are the days of friendly visits

Gone are the days of my family

Gone are the days where I can listen

Gone are the days where I could see

X Rays and needles lined up on a tray

Exercise meant to strengthen

Bringing excitement to my day

More pain to suffer

Before I fall asleep

I look forward

To each day I can keep

Gone are the days of strong sunshine

Gone are the days where I followed my mind

Gone are the days when love lived beside me

Gone are the days when you were mine

Timeless Is The Matter

Timeless Is The Matter

There are too many questions

Running around my brain

Looking for answers

I take my time to explain

Questions of my deepened soul

I give answers that I know

In the end they do change

My thoughts often rearrange

Timeless is the matter

Moving are the answers

Life is an ageless dancer

Timeless is the matter

Once out they come back again

Challenged by all my friends

Perspectives change and so do I

Questions always seek the why

Try to explain what I see

Live in possibilities

Not firm ground to understand

The world surrounds every man

Queried

Queried

Queried in the morning

About what it means to be

Is there another question

Another person I have to see

Doesn’t make it better

When I have to heal past wounds

The path I take to get there

Has taken me well past noon

Queried in the afternoon

About what it means to me

Looking for other answers

Why it is that I simply flee

Somewhere buried in my mind

Among the reasons I live

I have made some choices

Don’t understand what I give

Queried late into the night

About what it means to see

A life that is moving on

Is there a point where I am me

It is simply just my life

A point that is caught in time

There are no real answers

I am working out just fine
