Gone Are The Days

Gone Are The Days

Wheelchairs and oxygen tanks

And sitting in the hall

Passing the time of day

Awaiting a doctors call

Reading all the headlines

On my telephone

Wonder where the days went

Now that I am alone

Gone are the days of deep emotion

Gone are the days wild and free

Gone are the days of strong devotion

Gone are the days meant to be

Funeral homes and cemeteries

Relatives all passed on by

Dreaming of adventures

I would now never try

All my excitement

Is found on the tv

Falling asleep while watching

Good ole jeopardy

Gone are the days of friendly visits

Gone are the days of my family

Gone are the days where I can listen

Gone are the days where I could see

X Rays and needles lined up on a tray

Exercise meant to strengthen

Bringing excitement to my day

More pain to suffer

Before I fall asleep

I look forward

To each day I can keep

Gone are the days of strong sunshine

Gone are the days where I followed my mind

Gone are the days when love lived beside me

Gone are the days when you were mine
