Handful of Dust
The world is a rather lonely place
Sit looking for some good news
When your name came up
I became fairly amused
Times were distant
Times were passed
Time had moved on from you
Still there was this feeling
That distance had not abused
A handful of dust
Floating on the wind
Heading over there
Coming back again
There were times when
That was all I knew
An handful of dust
Between me and you
Simple thoughts follow simple times
Looking for reason to explain
It was a hard learned fact
That we are all not the same
And in the end I think I knew
I always wonder if I did
My life was so confused
It was by grace of god that I lived
Ideas took us beyond our world
Ideas grand and sure
And brought us to a separate place
Where life is what we endure
There were many happy times
A world where I was alive
Then we both did grow up
It all felt contrived
We walked down separate paths
Sure in all we did
In the end all that was left
Is a world in which we lived
