On Being Creative
No fantasies of grandeur
No wild hopes and dreams
Just seeing stepping stones
Accepting what I need
Doing it because I could
I needed something to do
I used my creative talent
To create something new
No it wasn’t easy
I enjoyed it all the same
Took each step slowly
Leaping forward when it came
Within a short while
Supporters settled in
Believed in my world
Urged me to formally begin
And then a break came
As I suppose it should
One day at a time
Showed that I was good
And when critics battered
Pounding at my door
With their bruised egos
Asking what its for
I kept on going
Smiling through my gain
My life was taking off
They remained the same
