What I Need
A childhood fantasy
An adult reality
Emotions kept
Deeply in place
Affording neither
Their due space
So much of my life
I can trace
Through illusions
That held the day
A solo pursuit
Is what was dreamed
Feed the growth
Was in all it did read
It’s not ego
It's what was believed
Struggling through the day
It was sent on its way
Songs to pay the rent
Time that was well spent
Reaching for dreams
To see what they meant
Win or lose
It was heaven sent
Living my life this way
Made me stronger everyday
I’ve had to do it my own way
Living my life from day to day
Taking in what I need
I had to become the real me
